(More customer reviews)Being a first time dog groomer that was tired of paying about $100 for both of my Maltese's to get a hair cut every month or so, I bought an Andis cutter. The reviews were great and it came with the #10 blade (which is the generic catch all size). The results were horrible, uneven, and I ended up doing a hand cut with siscors. They were trimmed, but obviously not professional. I ended up talking with a dog groomer friend who replied to my story, "Let me guess, you are using a #10 blade." I affirmed. She then said maltese's have a very fine hair that the #10 blade was too big and I needed to go to a #40. So I bought this one. Works great, and definately cuts Maltese fur well, except the standard combs that attach don't fit. You need to purchase a special type. They are on Amazon from a 3rd party vendor, but are twice the price of the same things on the Andis website. Look for part #'s 12990 and/or 12860. The normal blades fall off and well lets just say that my maltese has a 7 inch bald spot on his back. The aboe part numbers fit and will not let that happen.
