I got this for my brother for Christmas, even with all the regular shipping madness of the holidays I received it in great time. He loves it, when someone comes over to his house as he welcomes them in I often here him say "...oh, by the way, have you seen my new samurai?" The detail is amazing and the quality is top notch. Do be careful of the arrow, my nephew tried to grab the statue and the arrow broke off. (not an issue with the statue)

The samurai (or bushi) were the members of the military class, the Japanese warriors. Samurai employed a range of weapons such as bows and arrows, spears and guns; but their most famous weapon and their symbol was the sword. Samurai were supposed to lead their lives according to the ethic code of bushido ("the way of the warrior"). Strongly Confucian in nature, Bushido stressed concepts such as loyalty to one's master, self discipline and respectful, ethical behavior. After a defeat, some samurai chose to commit ritual suicide (seppuku) by cutting their abdomen rather than being captured or dying a dishonorable death. This incredibly detailed cold cast resin statue of a Samurai archer on horseback stands 8 inches high, is 7 1/2 inches wide and 4 1/2 inches deep.He is hand-painted with matte paints to give the piece an aged, metallic look.
